Description
Students who enroll in this workshop will learn about rockets and how the rocket engine works. They will each design and construct a launchable compressed-gas-powered water-propelled rocket that can reach several hundred feet altitudes.
As a team, the class will also construct a large (2 meter tall) multi-stage rocket and plan its trajectory and recovery. The class rocket will carry a sensor payload throughout a flight. The mission will be treated as a one-attempt flight, where everything must be accounted for ahead of time. They will apply trigonometry and geometry to predict the rockets’ near-one-thousand-foot trajectory.
In this workshop, the students will learn important hands-on fabrication methods, and how to plan and complete fabrication whose steps take days to complete.
Parents will be invited to a Rocket “LUNCH” on Thursday when all students will have the opportunity to launch their rockets into the stratosphere!!
Ages 8-13
Monday - Thursday, June 26-29
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
$240 + $20 materials fee
